What is a Regional Specialized Meteorological Center?
A Regional Specialized Meteorological Centre is an organization designated by the World Meteorological Organization to distribute information, advisories, and warnings for specific weather programs. Globally, ten designated warning centers operate as Regional Specialized Meteorological Centers or Tropical Cyclone Warning Centers to monitor tropical cyclones. For example, the Japan Meteorological Agency acts as one of these centers to forecast and name tropical cyclones in the Northwestern Pacific region.
